It was with great pleasure that we welcomed HELMEPA to Oil One’s facilities in Drapetsona. On a day dedicated to our shared vision for a cleaner marine environment, we had the honor of hosting the annual scholarship award ceremony, giving our guests a tour of our facility, and hosting the Association’s Board of Directors meeting.
The events were attended by HELMEPA President Ms. Semiramis Palaiou, members of the organization’s Board of Directors, and Mr. Dimitris Melissanidis.
The Scholarship Award Ceremony
The event began with the presentation of this year’s HELMEPA scholarships, an initiative that actively recognizes excellence and supports the next generation of scientists. The scholarships offer young people the opportunity to continue their studies in fields directly related to the sea and the environment.
In welcoming the attendees, HELMEPA’s General Director, Ms. Olga Stavropoulou, emphasized the importance of meaningful communication between the scholarship recipients and the donors within this “family circle” of the event, while expressing her gratitude for the warm hospitality.
The Tour of the Model Environmental Infrastructure
Immediately following the ceremony, an extensive tour was conducted for the members of the Board of Directors, the scholarship recipients, and their families at Oil One’s state-of-the-art facilities in Drapetsona—a model facility for environmental innovation with an international patent.
Mr. Dimitris Melissanidis gave a detailed presentation on the facility’s operations. In this context, he emphasized the critical role of modern infrastructure in protecting the marine ecosystem, as ship waste is now sent for complete treatment, putting the shared slogan “Save the Sea” into practice.
The Board of Directors Meeting
The day concluded with a meeting of HELMEPA’s Board of Directors, which was held in a specially designed space at Oil One. The selection of our facility to host the meeting is a great honor and underscores the exceptional, institutional collaboration and the strong ties that have long connected the organization with our company.
